I painted this blindfolded. Opting to obstruct one of my senses was a challenge I wanted to play with and in hindsight it holds even deeper meaning. The premise being—Would I be happy with the choices I made when I do not know what the end result will look like? Is it safe to trust the unknown?

Both faith and fear are trust in the unknown. I had faith that I knew what I was doing and this painting is a manifestation of the trust i had in myself and my craft. It opened up something new, that I can literally do this and so much more with my eyes closed (figuratively and literally)

The Way In (2020) is a portal opening into myself, into a new life and one of the first steps into this bigger world I created.

Here is some commentary from my past virtual art exhibition featuring one of the attendees. It always makes me happy to hear how people receive these works. What’s personal is universal and the more honest we are about ourselves the stronger the community we cultivate becomes.
